Directorships

My passion is helping people achieve their goals, both business and personal. That's probably why I've accepted so many Board Appointments and Directorships - both commercial and charitable - over the years

Current Positions include:

Sterling Agency
MARKETING
FOR GROWN UPS

Sterling specialise in marketing to Baby Boomers. Boomers tend to think of themselves as a special generation, very different from those that came before or even those that follow them. They are the wealthiest, most active, and most ambitious generation so far. They genuinely believe they can make a difference. Sterling is dedicated to communicating with them for clients great and small across all sectors.

KEEPING LONDON CLEAN - ONE OFFICE AT A TIME

Donnington Clean is a commercial cleaning company driven by quality and value. Currently based primarily in London and SE England, the business is set to expand into the rest of the UK, and into security and other natural fit commercial areas. I am a shareholder and advise the marketing resource.

Villa di Geggiano
A TASTE OF TUSCANY IN LONDON

The Villa di Geggiano in Tuscany has been the family home of the Bianchi Bandinelli family since 1527. In fact, they were one of the very first Italian families to import wine into the UK. The Villa di Geggiano restaurant in Chiswick was opened in 2014 serving Michelin star quality ingredients in a rustic and traditional Tuscan way. I am a Brand Ambassador, and advise the marketing resource.

Previous charity positions include...

Polar Adventure & Education

PAET encouraged an appreciation and awareness of the Arctic and Antarctic regions of the world. They offered financial support to adventure expeditions involving educational and scientific exploration projects for the public benefit to the Polar regions.

The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs

The Cholmondeleys and The Featherstonehaughs (pronounced Chumlees and Fanshaws) are amongst the UK’s most enduring contemporary dance companies. Under the artistic direction of Lea Anderson, both companies sustained an inventive and highly distinctive output for over 25 years and pioneered work in non-theatrical spaces and other media such as film and video. As one of the most important figures in British contemporary dance, Lea Anderson is known for her original and off-kilter choreographic style and for championing a meticulous and rich creative process along with a sense of ambition and expectation. I joined the board of these twin award-winning Contemporary Dance Companies as a Director to offer a commercial outlook on dance in the open market. The companies lost their ACE funding in 2013, but Lea Anderson is still going strong.

The Masterclass Trust

This Charitable Trust aims to offer young people exceptional creative opportunities and experiences with leaders of the theatre industry. A year-round programme of talks, workshops, special projects and career advice is intended to give people insight into all aspects of theatre from writing and directing to acting and producing. Masterclass strives to provide all the events for free, so that people of all abilities, status and background can be inspired by and learn from masters of the craft.

Other Business Activities

From time to time, I sit on Government think tanks. The first one resulted in SureStart (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sure_Start) the Government's programme to deliver the best start in life for every child by bringing together early education, childcare, health and family support.

I also worked with Biobank (http://www.ukbiobank.ac.uk/) to recruit half a million people to take part in the largest healthcare survey in UK history over the next 20 years. This will result in a unique resource for ethical research into genetic and environmental factors that impact on human health and disease, to improve the health of future generations.

In the world of TV, I was a director of Manifesto, a commercials production company based in London and Japan, and an associate of Condor Post Production. I also created a TV format that the BBC expressed an interest in and I’ve conceived a novel multi-media concept based on next generation mobile phone platforms.

Businesses owners often ask me to become their mentor. For example, I’ve advised a new gourmet burger restaurant in Camden, a steel engineering works in Lincolnshire, and a Scottish soft drinks company.
